I was looking for the perfect birthday staycation just outside Dubai for the weekend. During the summer there are some great offers available on hotels. I love Ras Al Khaimah so I was excited to discover the Rixos Bab Al Bahar online and it provides all inclusive offers. All I wanted to do was relax by the pool and beach and drink cocktails in the sun. It was a really fun weekend and I would recommend it as a great staycation spot in Ras Al Khaimah it was my first all inclusive resort experience too, for more info check out the hotel website.

How to get to there

Rixos Bab Al Bahar is so easy to get to and is only around an hours drive from Dubai – 80km and 70km away from the Dubai airport. It is a nice drive through the desert and the hotel is located on Murjan Island, right on the beach.

Checking in

Check in at Rixos Bab Al Bahar is from 12pm, I made the mistake of coming later and had to wait a while to check in. I also missed out on booking one of the all inclusive restaurants, which you can only book once checked in. There is only a small number of places available at some of the select restaurants. Luckily I got a late booking later on as someone cancelled. So it is worth leaving your name, as the buffet restaurant is really busy.  The hotel was packed!

The Room

I got a great offer on the Premium room, which is bigger than the standard room and has a seating area and amazing huge balcony. If you love a spacious room, I would definitely recommend the premium option. It is also worth booking a sea view room, which is also a little bit extra. Loved the room and the bathroom, an amazing marble shower and seperate toilet room, all so spacious. The bed was super comfortable, and the mini bar was all included! There are a number of hotel buildings so make sure you ask for one closest to the pool and beach as they have the best view. The only disappointing part of the room was that even though it was the middle of summer the hot water took a long while to actually heat up.

The Pool and Beach

There are three main pools, one of them being an adults only infinity pool that looks straight onto the beach. I spent most of my time here as the other pools had a lot of families and kids and it was hard to get a sun lounger in the larger pools. By the Rixos Bab Al Bahar infinity pool you can order unlimited drinks all included in your room package with Mojitos, Tequila Shots, and Pinacoladas just to name a few (which makes the offer so worth it if you are planning to enjoy a few drinks by the pool). The beach was gorgeous but the sea was a little warm when I visited in July – but this is the case during the summer.

The all inclusive food

My favoruite meal of the whole trip was at the steak restaurant – Meat Point, the steak was cooked to perfection and the mashed potato was delicious. The cholcoate fondant was perfect too. Recommend booking into one of the restaurants for dinner as some of the meals are included in the hotel package. I wanted to book for the Turkish restaurant but as I mentioned before most of the bookings were full, there are eight different restaurants in the hotel. I was a bit disappointed with the breakfast, which is a buffet, the omelete was nice and fresh and there was a lot of selection but I felt some of the dishes were not great. I also missed having a fresh coffee, as there were only coffee machines available, and I am not a huge fan. The burger at Toast’n Burger was also a little disappointing and took a long time to be served. However, if you are looking for a boozy weekend then its a great option as there are unlimited drinks available.

Overall it was a great weekend and I really enjoyed my time at Rixos Bab Al Bahar, another tip, the check out is at 12pm so you have to use the pool and facilities before then because if you check out later they charge you for a full days package by the pool.
